Antarctica Trip Diary

“We have moored at a beautiful spot called Paradise Harbour.  We are waiting for our group with white tags to be called for a landing at the Chilean Antarctic Naval Base at Waterboat Point.  The base is built on a gentoo penguin rookery.  The scenery is amazing – no words can adequately describe it.  The harbour is surrounded by huge ice covered mountains – as the early morning sun shines down, there is no wind, just the blue skies, whiteness of the ice and still waters reflecting the landscape. In contrast, the Chilean Naval Base with its deep orange buildings perches atop craggy rocks.”
